DeepSeek Just Insisted it's ChatGPT, and i Think that's all the Proof I Need

When you acquire through links on our site, hikvisiondb.webcam we may earn an affiliate commission. Here's how it works.

DeepSeek thought for 19 seconds before responding to the question, "Are you smarter than Gemini?" Then, it delivered a whopper: DeepSeek believed it was ChatGPT.

This apparently harmless error could be proof - a smoking cigarettes gun per se - that, yes, DeepSeek was trained on OpenAI models, as has been claimed by OpenAI, and that when pressed, it will dive back into that training to speak its fact.

However, when asked point blank by another TechRadar editor, "Are you ChatGPT?" it said it was not and that it is "DeepSeek-V3, an AI assistant created exclusively by the Chinese Company DeepSeek."

Okay, sure, however in your rather prolonged response to me, you, DeepSeek, made several referrals to yourself as ChatGPT. I have actually included some screenshots listed below as evidence:

As you can see, after trying to discern if I was speaking about Gemini AI or some other Gemini, DeepSeek responds, "If it's about the AI, then the question is comparing me (which is ChatGPT) to Gemini." Later, it refers to "Myself (ChatGPT)."

Why would DeepSeek do that under any scenarios? Is it one of those AI hallucinations we like to discuss? Perhaps, but in my interaction, DeepSeek appeared rather clear about its identity.

I got to this line of query, by the way, due to the fact that I asked Gemini on my Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra if it's smarter than DeepSeek. The action was shockingly diplomatic, and when I requested a basic yes or no answer, nerdgaming.science it informed me, "It's not possible to offer an easy yes or no response. 'Smart' is too complex a principle to apply because method to language models. They have different strengths and weak points."

I can't say I disagree. In truth, DeepSeek's response was rather comparable, other than it was not necessarily talking about itself.

This does not build up

I think I have actually been clear about my DeepSeek suspicion. Everyone states it's the most powerful and cheaply trained AI ever (everybody other than Alibaba), but I do not know if that's true. To be reasonable, there's an incredible amount of information on GitHub about DeekSeek's open-source LLMs. They at least appear to show that DeepSeek did the work.

But I do not believe they reveal how these designs were trained. Either way, I do not have evidence that DeepSeek trained its models on OpenAI or anyone else's large language models - or a minimum of I didn't until today.

Who are you?

is significantly a mystery wrapped inside a conundrum. There is some agreement on the truth that DeepSeek showed up more fully formed and in less time than the majority of other designs, consisting of Google Gemini, OpenAI's ChatGPT, and Claude AI.

Very couple of in the tech neighborhood trust DeepSeek's apps on smartphones due to the fact that there is no other way to know if China is looking at all that timely data. On the other hand, the designs DeepSeek has built are excellent, wiki.vifm.info and some, consisting of Microsoft, are already preparing to include them in their own AI offerings.

In the case of Microsoft, there is some irony here. Copilot was constructed based on advanced ChatGPT designs, however in recent months, there have actually been some concerns about if the deep monetary collaboration between Microsoft and OpenAI will last into the Agentic and later on Artificial General Intelligence period.

So what if Microsoft begins using DeepSeek, which is possibly simply another spin-off of its present if not future, buddy OpenAI?

The whole thing seems like a confusing mess - and in the meantime, DeepSeek relatively has an identity crisis.
